Year 3 Monday 22nd June, by Miss Higson

Date: 22nd Jun 2020 @ 11:48am

Good afternoon everyone,

Well, not a good start to the week with technology. Mrs Edwards was all set to go and posted the link for her lessons, but something has changed in Google's update which meant children were not allowed to access Google Meet. So, our technician has changed these settings and they should be fixed soon, but it takes 24 hours. So, our lessons will now be at exactly the same time BUT on Tuesday 23rd June. We hope you can still make the lesson, but if you can't, we will try and find another way to help you online.

Sorry about this everyone.

In the meantime, here is the usual weekly message to go with the video that was posted this morning....

For the photography project, you will need the basic camera function on any Ipad, tablet, laptop, phone or digital camera.

Light: Where is the light coming from--the window, the ceiling light, the open door? Try taking the same photo from different places. Can you have light on only part of the subject? Where do the shadows fall?

Editing: Explore the basic photo editor and see which filter/ colour change best suits the mood or feeling of the photo. If you save your photo as 'square' it will look great as part of a series or montage.

Hold still: Practise focusing your picture, or maybe you want it blurred to add to the effect!

The rest of the tasks are the Times Table Rockstars battle, My Maths tasks, the lesson follow up activity and Ms Butler's Spanish task which I forgot to mention!

Have fun, and we'll see you later.

Andy Burnham Visit!, by Miss Lee

Date: 19th Jul 2018 @ 4:21pm

What a fantastic afternoon at Moss Park! We had the Mayor of Greater Manchester visit our school! How lucky are we?! Andy met the children who went on the London Trip to tell him about our trip to Parliament and then he ran our assembly for Year 5 and 6. Some chosen Year 5s read aloud their poems, written about Manchester. They wrote these when another exciting guest, poet Levi Tefari came who inspired us to write poetry. It was very moving and Andy gave us some inspirational words about going for our dreams and making a difference to people's lives. Thank you so much again Andy!

Author Visit, by Miss Currie

Date: 26th Mar 2018 @ 8:50am

Damian Harvey

Damian lives in North Wales with his wife Vicky. He has written over 80 children's books and has visited hundreds of schools and libraries in Great Britain and abroad to share his love of reading and writing.

Last week we were lucky enough to welcome the author, Damian Harvey, to Moss Park Juniors over two days. Damian intrigued the children with an assembly, sharing one of his stories using some unusual props; a shoe, a jumper and even a child!

He then spent the remainder of his time visiting each class to complete a creative writing session. Damian and the classes created a unique character based on the childrens' ideas and then they began to build up a story plan. By the end of the session the children had planned out the story and decided on a strong opening.

The sessions proved highly popular and Damian was able to get the best out of the children by crafting their elaborate ideas into a well organised plan.

Thanks Damian!

Our Librarians, by Miss Currie

Date: 22nd Feb 2018 @ 4:11pm

With there only being one week until World Book Day, we thought we'd introduce you to our amazingly talented librarians. As well as running a weekly book club, they also enjoy renewing book displays, helping children choose interesting books and help out in any way possible.

Here they are (in no particular order);

'Hi I am Sylvie. I have recently enjoyed reading the whole collection of Percy Jackson books; they are full of adventure. I recommend them to Year 4 and above.

''My name is Dilkaran. My favourite quote is, 'Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.'

'My name is Zainab and I am a librarian. My all time favourite author is Roald Dahl, he is the world's number one story writer.'

'Hi, my name is Natasha. I really enjoy the series of books from Chris Colfer called, The Land of Stories. However, i do still enjoy reading the Gruffalo to younger children during story time.'

'I am Zara and my favourite author is Cath Cassidy. The book I am reading at the minute, Cherry Crush, is excellent; I give it 8/10.'

'Hi, my name is Hafsah and I love being a librarian. My favourite author is David Walliams and I am currently reading his book, Awful Aunty.'
