Y3 - Geography Posters, by Miss Khan

This half term in Geography, we have been learning all about the climate, flora and fauna in each biome.

Today in small groups, we made posters of our chosen biome, ready to add facts to tomorrow.

Y3 - Shell Structures, by Miss Khan

This week, year 3 have been designing, making and evaluating 'Shell Structures' as part of our DT project for this half term.

We had to cut out and assemble our chosen nets, use craft knives and glue guns to create our structure.

We also made a gorgeous oragami sunflower to put inside our structures :-)

Thank you to everyone that brought cardboard in so that we could all join in!

Today, Y3 had the pleasure of a double session with Freddie Fit!

We did a range of physical activities and learnt lots about how to keep our bodies healthy.

Today it was World Book Day, so we got to dress up as characters from our favourite books!

We did lots of fun activities including bookmark-making, book bingo, a whole-school parade and many more!

Plus we had lots of opportunities to share our favourite books and read for pleasure.

Today in Art, we focused on the key word tone to show the deepness of colours that we used.

We created mirror images of real flower pictures, before challenging ourselves to draw our own.

Today, we looked at botany, the scientific study of plants and drew different kinds of leaves.

Today, we had the wonderful opportunity to watch the Aladin Panto in a Day!

Year 3 absolutely loved it, it was so funny and we loved getting involved.

On Friday 6th January, we took part in RE day and absolutely loved it!

Our topic was Christianity, so we learnt all about Christian faith, churces, music and Rosa Parks.

Y3 Christmas Party, by Miss Khan

Year 3 had the BEST time at our Christmas party today!

We played lots of fun party games, watched films, did some colouring activities and ate as much party food as we possibly could!

Thank you to all the adults that provided the food & drink, we really appreciate the support and it made the day even more exciting.

Y3 Library Trip, by Miss Khan

This morning, year 3 took a trip to our local library. We loved seeing all the books on offer and exploring different authors.

We even went on a scavenger hunt, searching for popular junior book covers that had been hidden just for us!

Y3 Science - Sedimentary Sandwiches, by Miss Khan

In Science, we have been learning all about different rock types.

To help us understand how sedimentary rocks are formed, we layered food items on top of each other, to represent the sediments that form a sedimentary rock!

Did you know it takes hundreds of years for this process to occur?!

Y3 Decorating & Cooking Pizzas!, by Miss Khan

Today, our dough had risen beautifully so year 3 were able to roll, decorate and cook their pizzas!

We used rolling pins, a range of ingredients and discussed kitchen safety whilst in our fantastic food tech room. Just look at how much fun we had!

Have you tasted our pizzas this evening? We hope they taste as yummy as they look!

Y3 Making Pizza Dough, by Miss Khan

This term in Design & Technology, our topic is 'Cooking and Nutrition'. We are learning all about pizza!

We have researched pizza, designed our own and even got to try samples of yummy pizza.

Yesterday, we started to make our pizza dough and got our hands messy mixing the ingredients together - we loved it!

Y3 Trip to the cinema, by Miss Khan

Today, we took a trip to Stretford Public Hall to watch Clifford the Big Red Dog on a big screen!

All the children behaved beautifully, a true representation of our Moss Park school values.

Y3 Geography: Maps & Globes, by Miss Khan

Today, year 3 were working on our knowledge of addresses, using maps and globes to help us locate different areas of the world!

We used Google Earth and the Maps app to find our school, and explored the local area.

We added the 7 continents to our paper mache globes and labelled with our key words: the equator, lines of longitude and lines of latitude :)

We have LOVED being back to school after a well-deserved half term break! 

We began our new Science topic today, starting with an investigation into different types of rock. 

Our three main topic words from today were igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rock.

We looked at budgeting, our wants vs needs and how to grow your own profitable business.

We wrote poems about our favourite animals, using metaphors and similes

Year 3 have been learning all about plants in this half term's Science topic.

Today, we went into one of our wonderful outdoor learning spaces to draw pictures of the plants we could see and label their features :)

We have been learning all about plants. We explored plants around our school and identified and classified the according to their features. We then investigated water transportation and how water travels around a plant. We learnt about the importance of the roots and the stem.

We began the year by recapping the word chronology, we made a timeline of our life and then we looked at a timeline of World History. We talked about AD and BC and then had a go at ordering the different perdiods. As in introduction to primary and secondary sources, we have been looking at how we can find out information about The Stonehenge, we created a silhouette painting using watercolours. We also had a go at making our own cave paintings using the media of charcoal.
