Headteacher Weekly News 20th February 2020

Dear MPJS Families and Friends,

Welcome back after the half term holiday - we finished with rainy weather and came back to rain! We should start to see the signs of spring coming soon and we have lots of things to look forward to in school. Please see the noticeboard outside school and the spring dates on the Parents/Newsletter tab - they take us right up to the Easter break.

Thank You

We raised £562.49 from the PTFA Spring Discos. This includes tickets, money raised on the night and also this time from pupils who were not able to make the discos but wanted to support our fundraising. A great time was had by all and mixing up the music with team games such as the balloon passing game, Corners and Musical Statues was very popular. Special thanks as always to our PTFA committee and core of regular event helpers.

Just One Tree

Thank you for your donations. Every £1 will be used to plant one tree for every pupils who has donated today. We are making a big tree display in the hall with one leaf representing each child in school.

We are walking to Lostock College on Friday afternoon for the Allegro Dance performance - the theme this year is Beauty and the Beast (hope you enjoyed the homework of watching the film!). The weather is so wet at the moment on and off so please bring waterproof coats etc. for the children.

Coming Soon...World Book Day Thursday 5th March

We are going for full dress up day again this year. Pupils are welcome to come dressed up as characters and bring the book in as a bonus. There will be a prize for the best costume in each class. We look for creativity so please don't think you have to spend lots of money on a shop bought costume.  An extra competition this year is that pupils can bring in a piece of their artwork - a design of a book cover or character - we will display these and also give prizes for the best ones! Fun reading activities - including a Puffin Books Live Read that schools across the country will be doing at the same time - will be going on all day in all classes.

Kind regards,

Mrs S Nunwick
