Headteacher Weekly News 4th February 2020

Dear Parents, Carers, Families and Friends,

Thank You!

We have passed the E Safety Mark Assessment with flying colours. It was a very thorough day and the staff and children did us proud! Congratulations also to Miss McEvoy has worked so hard to lead us through the process.Thank you to all those parents who met with Dawn. In the report she highlights:

"The school has developed an extremely strong culture of openness, honesty and trust which has resulted in support from all areas of the school community. The high number of parents who attended the assessment meeting indicated that the school is viewed as a supportive partner. Parents were aware of the school’s vision and practises for online safety, in particular they discussed the digital leaders and how their own children had helped with their personal understanding of e-safety."

The Quality Mark lasts for 3 years. We will continue on our e safety journey as there are always things we can do better and we face new challenges all the time with fast moving technology!

Tree Planting

Year 3 and 4 pupils are planting trees on our school field tomorrow. Please send your child in something waterproof and sensible for garden work if they are in Y3 & 4.

Food Technology Room Progress

Howdens are in today to measure and price up the job. We have got a really good link now with Lostock College and are modelling our room on the High School model. Can't wait for the work to start and get  going - we will be calling on family members to share their cooking expertise, so watch this space! 5H are at Lostock on Friday again, so please remember containers.

Disco!

Tickets are still available for our PTFA Discos on Thursday 6th February - we look forward to seeing as many children are possible and thank any volunteers in advance. Y3 & Y4 straight after school and Y5 & Y6 4.45 - 6.00 pm. Tickets are £2.50 and include drink and a snack.

Please note: We are going to let all pupils wear non-uniform on Thursday - it is easier for Y3 and Y4 and fair to our older pupils.

If  your child cannot come to the Disco, we would be very grateful if you could bring in 50p donation towards the PTA's activities.

There will be no clubs on Thursday. Please note that Friday clubs ARE on (and are on first week back).

PE may be outside next half term (fingers crossed) so please make sure your child has PE kit that can be worn indoors and outdoors. There are still a few children in every class without bits of PE kit.

As usual, lost property uniform & kit will be displayed outside the school office to be claimed on the last day of half term at 3.20 onwards.

Mr Jordan's Holiday Sports Club

There are a few places left on each day. Booking forms are in the office. I have uploaded a booking form here in case you decide you would like your child to attend the camp once we have closed on Friday. You can just turn up on the day (just before 9.00 am) and hand the form/payment in and your child will be able to attend. Just make sure your child is wearing suitable comfy clothing and has a packed lunch with them.

Lastly, we break up on Friday 7th February and I wish you and your family an enjoyable and restful half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 17th February.

All good wishes,

Mrs Nunwick and all the staff at Moss Park Junior School
