Headteacher Weekly News 9th December 2019

Hello Everyone,

Please may I start by thanking you for your chocolate donations on Friday? It will help our chocolate tombola be one of the most popular stalls again on Friday!

I hope you all got a copy of the "help needed" letter that went out on Thursday night - a copy is attached below this news item. We are looking for donations of cakes to eat in our festive cafe plus pre-loved teddies, toys and books (thanks to Thomas R in Y4 who bought in a huge bag of washed and dried cuddly toys! this morning!). All money raised at the Christmas Fun Afternoon & Fair  on Friday goes back to our children.

Please keep sending in items of food and toiletries for Barakah Food Aid Foodbank appeal - Mr Irvine and I will take the boxes on the last day of term.

Miss Higson and I were thrilled to see 25 pupils come to sing at Stretford Public Hall Christmas Fair on Saturday. Our children represented school fantastically and our 'enthusiastic volunteers' were brilliant!

School Parking and Waiting

Careless parking, waiting and dropping off is STILL causing lots of problems outside school. It is not necessary to drop your child off at the front gate. Please park further away from school and walk the last bit. It is good for your child, good for you and good for the environment too! I can get the police back again, but they can't be there every day. Please don't:

  • Park on the zig zags EVER - it is illegal
  • Double park on our narrow road so cars cannot get past - blocks other road users
  • Park on the corner of the road - blocking others
  • Park over neighbour's drives - it is a nuisance
  • Stop in the middle of the road and let your child dash across - so dangerous
  • Keep your engine running - pollution harms our children!

Election Closure

Please remember we are closed to pupils on Thursday 12th December for the snap General Election.

We hope to see as many Year 3 families as possible for our Y3 Christmas Play Wednesday 11th December 2.30 pm and Friday 13th December 9.15 am.

Finally, I do hope that you have an informative Parents' Evening on Wednesday 11th and I am around all evening if you want to see me. Just pop your head round my office door.

Kind regards,

Mrs Nunwick
