Home Learning

We use Google Classroom in lessons and homework. The pupils love using Google Classroom in school and at home and their use of the latest technology will give them a big advantage in their future learning and employment. You don't need a chrome book like we use in school - you can access Google Classroom on laptop, tablets i-pads and smart phones. You can get google apps like Meet (for online lessons and meetings) and Classroom (work, homework and feedback between teacher and pupil). We run Homework Hub each Thursday lunchtime so that pupils who haven't managed to do their homework can complete this under supervision of the duty teacher. We have a small stock of laptops to loan out for pupils who do not have access to hardware at home.

Problems logging on? Just contact the office for log-ins and passwords etc. and if you still have trouble, pop in with your device and one of our teachers will solve your problem!

We also use TT Rock Stars

and My Maths

We encourage pupils to read a wide variety of material using Epic

Pupils practise spelling on Spag.com

Here are two quick videos to help you log on and turn in your work on Google Classroom!

Please see our Pupil Zone tab for information and advice on online safety.

*January 2021 Update - from Home Learning to Remote Learning*

School is closed to all but children of Critical Workers and those pupils idenitifed by school as being vulnerable. Thanks to proactive purchasing of chrome books for use in lessons,  100% of our pupils have access to the hardware they need. Provision is firmly embedded across school. We trialled teaching a remote unit from the Oak Academy in the autumn term, used White Rose Maths videos for homework and made sure our new Year 3 pupils had the independent skills needed to learn from home in the event of a period of household isolation or bubble/school closure.

A typical daily timetable includes whole class live teaching through Google Classroom and prerecorded lessons (MPJS staff and commerical providers such as Oak Academy). We deliver small group sessions to pupils with additional needs, in line with their Individual Education Plans.  Assignments are uploaded daily and we communicate  wth pupils via the Google Classroom. Our aim is to continue to provide a broad and balanced age related curriuclum whether a child is at home or being supported in school. Our Music Teacher from Trafford Music Service is teaching in school and delivering remote weekly lessons. We have even secured a sports coach who delivers home PE & Fitness sessions to each year group via Google Meet!

The Headteacher has acquired free data for parents. Please click the link to the google form so we can apply for free data for you:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1mvyM0buX_5PMz5oI71vyRp-uATODh-LnjmEy1bJwkg0/edit

I also managed to secure Vodafone free data sims cards. Please contact the school office if you would like one.

What do our parents say about our Remote Learning offer?

Week 4 parent phone calls were extremely positive. Here are quotes from some Year 6 parents. Please see the Parent Feedback document on this page to get a flavour of what parents across school think of us!

'We're delighted with the morning and afternoon Google Meets, it really helps to structure the day.'

'The high expectations of work and attendance has been very welcoming.'

'They really do look forward to the Google Meets and are pleased that they get that time to chat to their friends before the lesson.'

'The work has been challenging but not too challenging that they can't have a go on their own.'

'Thank you for everything you are doing - we know it can't be easy.'
