Y2 - Trip to Pizza Express, by Miss Khan

Year 2 are thrilled to now be able to share with you some photos of our class trip to Pizza Express last half term!

We met with the head chef who spoke to us about hygiene and ingredients.

We then had the opportunity to make / cook / eat our own pizzas! Big thank you to Pizza Express for having us :-)

This half term in Geography, we have been learning all about the climate, flora and fauna in each biome.

Today in small groups, we made posters of our chosen biome, ready to add facts to tomorrow.

Y3 - Shell Structures, by Miss Khan

This week, year 3 have been designing, making and evaluating 'Shell Structures' as part of our DT project for this half term.

We had to cut out and assemble our chosen nets, use craft knives and glue guns to create our structure.

We also made a gorgeous oragami sunflower to put inside our structures :-)

Thank you to everyone that brought cardboard in so that we could all join in!

Year 6 D.T - Night lights!, by Mrs Toft

Year 6 have been making night lights this week combining their Science and Design Technology topics together. They have had to create a working circuit with a switch and attach it inside their own night light which they individually designed. They used glue guns, craft knives and much more to create their wonderful lights.

Year 5 were taught by Mr Drayton from Stretford Grammar. We learnt about water resistance and investigated which shape is the best against water resistance.

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who took part and joined in so enthusiastically with our celebration of World Book Day. We saw some extremely clever and creative costumes this year (from children and staff) and awarded a ‘Best Costume’ certificate to one person from each class. The winners: Amber W (6T), Nathan H (6L), Olivia C (5R), Aiza C (5W), Haider A (4C), Ayrah (4N), Joshua G (3J) and Aiden T (3K) have all won a £5 voucher which they can spend at the upcoming scholastic book fair.

We did a range of physical activities and learnt lots about how to keep our bodies healthy.

Today it was World Book Day, so we got to dress up as characters from our favourite books!

We did lots of fun activities including bookmark-making, book bingo, a whole-school parade and many more!

Plus we had lots of opportunities to share our favourite books and read for pleasure.

In Science, Year 6 are learning all about electricity and circuits this half term. They started the topic by exploring the components that make a basic circuit and using sweets to represent those components.

Year 6 had the fire service in to talk to the children about how they can stay safe and help prevent fires.

In STEM club we looked at what would happen to skittles when they are in water. The children predicted what would happen and how each colour would interact and then observed the changes and helped make cool looking patterns!

This term the focus was on our amazing families. Families come in all shapes and sizes but what they have in common is they LOVE us, PROTECT IS AND CARE for us. Look at the creative ways our pupils represented their families - we've got poems, scrapbooks, family trees, models and pictures - amazing!

To round off our topic on the Ancient Greeks, we held a full day of exciting activities. We looked at how Sparta and Athens compared and had to make up our minds if we would rather live in Sparta or Athens. We also performed our own Greek play!
