Headteacher Weekly Bulletin 17th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Can it really be the end of term already? Time has marched on and we are just two days away from our October Half Term Break. We've had a great half term, with school being recognised for its Geography, PE and Science curriculum via the Awards and Quality Marks we have gained in September. Our football team is going from strength to strength and as a school we have collected so much food for our Harvest contribution to Stretford Foodbank that Mr Irvine had to make an extra trip!

I've just watched Year 5 perform their Anglo Saxons play to a packed house of families. It's fantastic to see their confidence. Miss Jones, our Music teacher, is delivering the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) syllabus to all our pupils over the year in addition to their music lessons. She is focusing on public speaking and reciting & perfoming poetry. I'd like us to be able to offer examinations and qualifications in these subjects - watch this space! We've had the Eco team, Digital leaders and Ethos team delivering assemblies too and they have been great presenters.

It's 'Divali Day' tomorrow (Divali falls in the holidays this year) in school and as well as doing a Divali Activity to learn more about the festival, pupils can come in their own clothes. The brighter colours the better, please to replicate bright colours and fireworks! The pupils will also be doing a Team Challenge in their teams of Hawking, Mandela, Parks and Pankhurst as an enrichment activity for excellent behaviour this half term.

Poppies and other items for Royal Legion charity (Remembrance Day) are on sale from today. 50p for any item. There are rubbers, pencils, key rings and all sorts of items for sale.

Last call tomorrow to hand in your slips for Mr Jordan's Sports Holiday Camp next week. Pupils are welcome for 1 day or 5, and they will have lots of fun. His contact details are in the office if you don't have a flyer.

We have still got lots of lost property uniform so will lay that out tomorrow before and after school in the front waiting area of school.

It's Winter Uniform when we  come back so please put red polo shirts away until Easter. White shirts with optional tie to be worn until then. Thank you.

Please take time over the holidays to check your child has a full PE kit. We will send them all home tomorrow. If it's dry, we do try to go outside so please make sure your child has winter PE kit (see Parents/Uniform tab on website).
