MPJS Newsletter June/July 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

I thought I would detail a couple of items that were useful for you to have before we break up. There will be a fuller newsletter going out early next month but the information is useful now and I wanted you to know the class allocations as soon as possible.

The updated Behaviour policy, Attendance & Punctuality policy and School Uniform policy for September 2018 are now on the website. We have copies in the policy folder in the school entrance and can make copies for you free of charge.

I would ask that parents are very clear about the exceptional circumstances in which they will be granted authorisation for time off during term time before they make the request. We have a brief 2  sided section of the attendance policy for parents to take from the office along with the request form. Requests are starting to trickle in again, and none of them so far are within the governor policy.

Thank you for your positive feedback on the jumpers, cardigans and PE t-shirts displayed outside. I’m really pleased with the quality and the design. Prices will be:

£10.95 sweatshirt

£12.95 cardigan (they have got pockets which are really handy)

£5.50 PE T shirt

I’ve had a few questions from parents so I’ll just respond to them here:

  1. If you have got sweatshirts that are in  good condition and intended keeping them going in the autumn term, please wear those and replace with the new ones when you are ready. I don’t want parents to waste money and throw good uniform out. The same goes for any new/nearly new white polo shirts. It’s the end of June and some parents may already have stocked up for September.
  2. We forgot to add pinafores to the skirt/trousers etc. section of the list. They are now on the list.
  3. Sizings - all items will be in John McHugh (they do sizes 2-3 up to small adult) and on their website within a couple of weeks – I will text you when I get the call from them. Their website is: http://www.johnmchughschoolwear.co.uk and you will be able to order items online as well as go into the shop.
  4. We don’t have ties so there is no need for pupils to button up to the top button. Some of my Year 4 pupils tried them on yesterday and they look so smart with an open neck shirt.

I would ask that you take a few minutes to look at the full uniform policy on the website – and I’ve left a few paper copies in the office. Many of your questions will be answered there. If not, please get in touch.

Staffing Goodbyes

We are sorry to be losing two long-time members of the Moss Park Junior Team – Mrs Corrigan and Mrs Murray in the school office. They work tirelessly to make sure communication between parents and staff members is successful and work hard on the ‘frontline’ of our school business. Both ladies are retiring (early of course!) and are going to be spending time looking after their grandchildren.

Staffing Hellos

We are looking forward to Mrs Foster coming back next term when she has fully recovered from her knee operations. When she returns, she will be doing a floating role with more direct work with pupils, parents and professionals related to her SENCO role until the end of the year. We have employed a fantastic teacher, Miss Horvath, who will be teaching in Year 4 for the year. She will be here for our transition day and other days and events before we break up in July. We will welcome Miss Currie back in September as Mrs Edwards – she is getting married at the end of July and we wish her congratulations.
