Year 5 held an exhibition this week to share and celebrate all of their hard work towards completing a certification for Arts Award Explore! We had a fantastic turn out and they loved talking about everything they have worked on over the year.

The Year 6 Mock Trial team didn't disappoint - they came back to school with the runners up shield. Not an easy feat either - 16 well rehearsed teams battling it out but the team were just so well prepared, confident and professional. Well done!

What a fantastic afternoon for our Mosstermind Final 2022. Well done to all our finalists - we will celebrate your avchievements in Assembly next Friday. Our winning team is Pankhurst and our Mosstermind Champion 2022 is Charlie Newns! Well done everyone.
Year 5 - Tatton Park trip, by Miss Wallis

Year 5 had a fantastic time at Tatton Park learning more about the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. They learnt about what weapons the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings used, they learnt how to farm and they learnt how to create a shield wall.

We have been learning all about mass and how to measure mass using scales. To put our learning in to context we consolidated it by making biscuits. We we were very careful to make sure we measured the ingredients accurately.

We have been looking at the history of our local area. We have been identifying local significant historical buildings and why it is important that we preserve them. We went on a walk of the local area to visit some of these buildings. We even sketched them too!

As part of our topic we enjoyed learning about the Easter story and why the crucifix is such an important symbol to Chrsitians. We then used charcoal to create an artist image of a cross.

Our sewing topic was a fit! Everyone really enjoyed the challenge of learning different stitches. After researching pencil cases, and their interesting history, we designed our own considering our audience. After this we made our own pencil cases. It was important to consider the fastening used and the length to ensure all the stationary could fit in.
Year 4- Art making pendants, by Miss McEvoy

As part of our jewellery topic we learnt all about differnt gemstones. We then enjoyed making our own gemstones using a plain gem and nail varnish. We had to think about what we had learnt to make it look real. After this, we used our gemstones to design a necklace and our gemstone was the pendant.
Year 4 History, by Miss McEvoy

To complete our Crime and Punishment topic we revised all of the information we had learnt across our 5 session to make a poster, leaflet or fact file whihc could go into a Year 4 museum. We enjoyed looking at pictures of people we had learnt about, including; Sir Robert Peel, Emmeline Pankhurst and Dick Turpin. We are all veyr proud of our work and we hope you like them too :)

Crucial Crew, by Miss Horvath

Year 6 spent the morning listening to a number of local agencies with 'Crucial Crew'. They explored how they can be safe in a number of areas, including: Railway safety (transport police), tram and bus safety (transport safety), keeping our belongings safe on the streets (police), road safety and first aid - the recovery position.

Street Art - Lettering, by Miss Horvath

Year 6 enjoyed practising their lettering in our Street Art unit this week. They explored different tones, light and shadow and the shape of the letters often used in graffiti. They also learnt that names on graffiti are often referred to as 'throwies'. Even Mr Boyer and Miss Horvath got involved!
