We have had a speciaist dance teacher in school who has been teaching us how to put togetehr a series of dnace moves to create or own piece. We then put all our pieces together to make an amazing choreographed perfomance for the staff and our partner class!

For enrichment today, Year 6 worked in their team points groups to complete a Spring term retrieval grid. They had to use their combined knowledge to remember facts from the start of the half term up to this week! After, we went outside to play a carousel of team games. 6B and 6H played competitively against one another in their team point groups. They had a lot of fun!

Year 6 decided to make their own 'lucky' fishes to celebrate Chinese New Year - This year is the year of the tiger!

The fish has a symbolic meaning for the Chinese people, particularly when celebrating Chinese New Year. The Arowana Fish also known as the Dragon Fish is believed to have descended from a mythical dragon and have the power to bring happiness and prosperity. It is also traditional to serve fish at the end of the New Years evening meal, due to its name sounding similar to the words 'wish' and 'abundance' in the Chinese language.

In this lesson, we explored area and perimeter through drawing different rectangles. We learnt that a shape can have the same area but a different perimeter. We looked at how knowing factors can help us to work out the perimeter of a shape when we're given the area.

Year 4 - Active Maths, by Miss McEvoy

Year 4 have enjoyed taking their Maths lesson outside this week. We all had a digit card, we have to join up in groups of 3/4 to then use our number cards to make number sentences for division and multiplication. We had to see how many different sentences we could make with 3 or 4 digit cards.

Last week we had a special coding session with Barclays. We joined in with other schools to code a game. We followed the coding instructions, which were very tricky, these included using variables. We enjoyed the challenge!

To consolidate our learning about the digestive system we drew around our partner and then had to draw the digestive sytem. We had fun remembering all the different body parts and which body part does what.

Year 5 carried out an experiment to test whether the size of a parachute would affect the amount of air resistance and the length of time it takes for the parachute to hit the ground! We used plastic bags, string and and a pencil for our experiment. We discussed our results together as a class.

Visit from a Jewish Rabbi, by Miss Rice

A Rabbi from a local Jewish Synagogue visited Year 5 today. He discussed about the Synagogue's importance in the community, how Jewish people worship and the children got a chance to ask questions about Judaism. This links to our RE topic 'Different places of worship'. The children really enjoyed listening and learning about the faith.

We went on a hunt for the hidden coins and notes. We made a tally chart as we found them. We then calculated the goat amounts using out multiplication facts. 

We had a go at making different totals of coins and seeing how many combinations we could find. 

We then played a game of loop cards by recognising, identifying and adding different amounts

As part of our coding project, we coded our own google logo today. We followed different tutoptial videos to make the logos bounce, dance and much more. We had to change the sprites (letters) and the backdrop. We had a lot of fun.

This half term in Art, Year 4 have been learning all about William Morris. Today we learnt about sketching, inanimate objects, and medium. After practrising our sketching skills (hatching, pressure and cross-hatching) by sketching an apple. We then went outside to choose a leaf. We chose a leaf as William Morris uses natural objects in his art work. We used our observation skills to look at the detail on the leaf, we then sketched it in our sketch books.
